The Eat Early Feed – Bristol Bite No.2

The ‘Eat Early Feed’ monthly bites showcase exciting news about our restaurants, things that caught our eye, events coming up that we think you’ll love, and log what we have been up to as a company during our Eat Early adventure!

We hope you enjoy them.

We are now a week into January and the festive period has ended.  As most of Bristol have fallen into health kick mode with Dry January, Veganuary, healthy eating and new gym memberships, issue no. 2 of our Eat Early feed features some banging dishes that fit in with our January diets, and some interesting things happening during the first month of 2019!

Veganuary:

Here’s an interesting article from the guardian about the 14,000 people that have committed to doing Veganuary this year. (Read here)

Save 30% at Falafel King whilst trying out Veganuary:

Those of you Veganuary participants… have you been to Falafel King yet?

Their Vegetarian and Vegan menu is absolutely legendary and they are well known for the eruption of flavours throughout their Middle Eastern dishes.

Have a look at the video above and check out their restaurant page below to find out what delicious treats are on the menu… We thoroughly enjoyed their Shakshuka and Batata Salad when we went to visit.

Book your table with Eat Early using the page below to receive a 30% discount when you dine at Falafel King!

21st January – Blue Monday/National Hug Day:

Today is supposedly the most depressing day of the year – not much to be excited about here!!

However it is also marked as National Hug Day so how about giving those close to you a big hug today and you might just make their ‘Blue Monday’ that little bit brighter…

Latin-American sandwiches from Salt Street:

Ex Asado Chef Leon has created the ultimate Latin-American sandwich pop-up, at Steam in Clifton. Imagine great bread, toasted and stuffed with pickles, meats, cheeses and served piping hot, oozy and oh so delicious!

You can book a table here to enjoy 30% off the food bill. Some popular favourites are:

  • CUBANO – Traditional Cuban mojo marinated pork using local beer. thick cut ham. sweet pickles. Swiss cheese. homemade mustard mayonnaise & toasted in a buttered Cuban roll.
  • PHILLY CHEESESTEAK – Free range beef steak, peppers, onion, fries, mozzarella & swiss cheese, mustard mayo, toasted in a Cuban roll.

Leon has even have added a super tasty Vegan option to the menu so there is something for everyone to try:

  • FRIED EGGPLANT SANDWICH – Seasoned deep fried aubergine, marinara sauce, inside a Cuban Roll.

Haunted and hidden walking tour:

Every Friday from 8pm…

“As featured in TV’s ‘Most Haunted’ .. A fun tour around old Bristol and its ghostly buildings including a 16th Century Church guarded by a monk, a haunted Coaching Inn visited by Oliver Cromwell and a haunted 17th Century Pub where Daniel DeFoe was a regular!” – Visit Bristol

23rd January – National Pie Day:

Ok, so we must have some pie lovers here?!? (Us included)

Today is a WHOLE day dedicated to eating pies. No further explanation needed.

Our recommendation is to get yourselves over to The Shakespeare in Totterdown, a cosy and friendly pub hidden amongst the colourful terraced houses. They offer a range of the extremely popular Lovett Pies, which are some of the best you can get in Bristol!!

Oh and to sweeten the deal you can try these out for 50% less when you book through Eat Early – winning!! (Click here to view restaurant and book a table)

Bandook Indian Kitchen:

Situated within the trendy Cargo units in Wapping Wharf is a little taste of Indian heaven. Bandook Indian Kitchen serves funky Indian Street Food style dishes and we are in love with their modern and absolutely delicious menu.

For you Veganuary participants out there, we would highly recommend trying their Baingan Moilee, a comforting curry of baby aubergine in coconut milk atop mash potato.

Live music at Buttermilk & Maple:

If you are not one of those hibernating this January, how about heading down to Buttermilk & Maple to listen to some live music? In a cosy and relaxed environment, see some of Bristol’s most talented musicians playing a mix of genres so there’s something for everyone every Thursday from 7-9pm…
